Active Assessment: Engaging the mind AND body
Learning and Moving don't have to be done in isolation. Participants will engage in a variety of formative assessments and see how easy it can be to learn and move at the same time.
It's hard to measure student learning if you don't measure it. Besides planning with the end in mind, frequent checks in learning help should help Physical Educators determine where their students are in progressing towards the learning target. Many Physical Educators don't understand that assessment does not necessarily mean that kids have to be sitting down with a pencil in their hand. This session will expose them to a variety of techniques to have students moving while both the teacher and students are gaining information (physical and/or cognitive.)
