Move, Dance, Learn!
Join us for a standards-based dance lesson packed full of instructional strategies, formative assessment tools, and links between Common Core State Standards and California Physical Education Standards in dance! We’ll explore both elementary and secondary lessons and enjoy some teacher to teacher discussion on what it takes to help our students learn physical education content while supporting their literacy skills.
This session will encourage its participants to view both physical education content standards and Common Core State Standards and think differently when trying to understand not only the linkage between the two standards, but also the actions that should be followed as they successfully link the standards together during a dance activity. While much of this session will be activity based, it will also encourage learning via participation and examples of authentic assessment. Audience members will be provided with common examples of instructional strategies and formative assessment tools to help with their learning. There will be a brief discussion post activity in order to further help with understanding.
