This "hands on" session will have you explore the principles and instructional strategies used behind teaching static balance as it relates to the K-6 CA physical education standards. Discover ways to successfully use communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking to deepen student learning.
The goal for this session is for the participant to learn how to teach the principles and skills related to balance in a developmentally appropriate way to K-6 students.Learning objectives. The participant will learn:
1)Where static balance fits into the CA physical education standards.
2)A variety of instructional strategies for teaching the basic individual, partner and small group static balance skills from simple to complex.
3)How to incorporate a variety of informational text to enhance and deepen learning.
4)Ways to incorporate the four C’s (Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking and Creativity) to enhance and deepen learning.
5)How to embed formative assessment within instructional activities.Outline for session
