Linda McGhee has taught Physical Education for 25 years, beginning at the high school level and moving down to elementary after a year. She has also taught swimming and coached gymnastics. Currently she is teaching at Las Lomitas, a K-3 school in Atherton, California and working on National Board Certification.

National Board Certification - Take a Look at What’s New
The National Board Certification program is currently being revised to be more user-friendly. How has the certification process changed? Why should I take on this extra challenge? Come to hear answers to these questions from professionals in our field who are Board Certified and those currently in the program.
Presenters will give an overview of the National Board Teaching Certification process. It will include the following:
1) What is National Board Certification?
2) Background - a brief history and the current revisions.
3) The five core propositions and the professional teaching standards.
4) Why becoming nationally certified is important.
Board certified physical educators and those going through the process will be available to answer questions and share experiences.
Objectives: to provide current information about National Boards and provide motivation to start the process.
Expected learning outcomes: attendees will be more informed about national boards, they will have contacts and a website for further information, and they will see the value in becoming nationally board certified.
